MILAN DESIGN WEEK CELEBRATES ACOUSTIC INNOVATION

Every April, Milan Design Week transforms the city into the global capital of design. And this year’s Salone del Mobile 2025 showed us why. With over 300,000 visitors, it remains the world’s leading design event for interiors, furniture, and materials.

Among the standout voices? Slalom Acoustics—pioneers in sustainable acoustic design and longtime Robin Reigi partners.

SLALOM CREATES AN IMMERSIVE STORY OF ACOUSTIC DESIGN

Instead of a typical trade show booth, Slalom Acoustics built a walkable story. Designed by Studiolatte, their “Continuous Acoustic” installation guided visitors through a multisensory journey using bio-based and recycled materials.

Most notably, they debuted GRASS, a new plant-based acoustic finish, proving that sustainability can be both beautiful and functional.

Each section—Suite, Arena, and Break Zone—offered acoustic comfort, tactile surfaces, and visual calm. These weren’t just walls. They were soundscapes.

“We wanted people to feel part of the story, to understand the value of what they were seeing and touching.”

A MULTI-SENSORY JOURNEY THROUGH SOUND AND SPACE

Walking through Slalom’s installation felt like entering another world. Every surface absorbed noise and reflected intention.

The materials—including Arrow, Bloom, Bounce, Curtain, ECOwall, and more—demonstrated how sustainable acoustic design supports architecture and wellness.

This idea, called Acoustethics, blends acoustics, ethics, and aesthetics. And it was felt in every part of the experience.

ACOUSTICS MEET MEDIA: SLALOM X ELLE DECOR ITALIA

Beyond the fairgrounds, Slalom hosted “Takeover – Casa Slalom Acoustics”, an editorial-style broadcast series in collaboration with Elle Decor Italia.

This immersive set—wrapped in Slalom panels—paid homage to 1960s Italian TV studios. Natural light, layered materials, and thoughtful soundscapes created a unique setting for conversations with design leaders.

The featured materials—ECO&PETfelt, POISfelt, Tunnel, Lamellae, Eclipse, and more—proved that acoustic design can enhance media, retail, and hospitality spaces.

“The heart of the installation is the interior. For the first time we experience this place exclusively from the inside, immersed in its “belly”, a true container of stories.”

MATERIAL INNOVATION ON DISPLAY

In Piazza XXV Aprile, Slalom joined forces with Rubelli and Tecno for a third installation. Slalom’s acoustic panels were wrapped in Rubelli’s new Teorema fabric collection—blending style, color, and texture with sound absorption. Proof that sustainable acoustic solutions can be beautiful, too.

This unexpected collaboration reminded us that acoustics can—and should—be part of every material conversation.

ROBIN REIGI IS PROUD TO REPRESENT SLALOM MATERIALS

The excitement of Salone del Mobile 2025 will stay with us as we return to New York. From fashion to furniture, this show is the global center of design innovation.

Robin Reigi proudly represents Slalom Acoustics in the U.S. We carry their full range of high-performance acoustic panels—including Bloom, a natural-fiber solution with a fashion-forward look.

From quiet walls to flexible soundscapes, Slalom continues to show that sustainable acoustic design isn’t just about silencing noise. It’s about creating beautiful, functional, and emotionally resonant spaces.

“Acoustics is a discipline that is constantly expanding through research. Acoustic comfort is now a priority in public architectural projects.”
