Modern design doesn’t have to feel cold. With Querkus in Canadian Modern interiors, it’s possible to balance minimalism with warmth and texture. This stunning new build in the Canadian mountains is a perfect example.

Designed by Lauren Ritz of LRD Studio, the home blends rustic charm with modern elegance. Ritz chose Querkus Vivace Oak veneer panels by Decospan to bring this vision to life. These panels are light in tone, rich in character, and deeply expressive.
Every panel features subtle grain, natural knots, and tonal variation. As a result, they create an interior that feels calm, authentic, and grounded.

WHY THE DESIGN WORKS
The open-plan layout and high ceilings make the space feel expansive. Yet thanks to Querkus reclaimed oak panels, the home never feels cold. Instead, the warm wood surfaces add depth and comfort.
The veneer wraps from walls into built-ins and cabinetry, giving every space visual continuity. From the kitchen to the living room, each area flows into the next. Meanwhile, stone accents and steel details provide contrast.
Even the bathroom benefits from Querkus oak veneer. Against a bold black wall, the warm wood panels soften the design and add texture. The combination is striking but serene.

SUSTAINABILITY MEETS STYLE
Sustainability was a key goal for this project. Querkus by Decospan is made using reclaimed oak, making it an environmentally responsible choice. The wood is carefully sourced, and the panels are made with low-emission adhesives.
Querkus also supports green building standards. It aligns with certifications like LEED, WELL, and FSC. In other words, it’s a smart choice for designers who value both beauty and performance.
