IIDA NY’s SUP Inspires Next-Gen Designers
The IIDA New York SUP (Student Upliftment Program) connects students with sponsors and design professionals. Gold-level IIDA benefactors and above sponsor deserving students with annual IIDA memberships. These meaningful connections help shape the next generation of interior designers.
WHAT IS IIDA NEW YORK SUP?
SUP hosts an annual event where sponsors and students meet for the first time. The 2024 event took place at the newly renovated Ted Moudis Headquarters in the iconic Chrysler Building. The evening celebrated growth, creativity, and collaboration in the design industry.
HONORING RACHEL ROBINSON FOR STUDENT DEVELOPMENT
Rachel Robinson, Principal at Ted Moudis Associates, was recognized as the 2024 SUP Honoree.
Since joining IIDA NY in 2020, Rachel has championed student development through her role as co-chair of Design Camp. This program introduces K-12 students from diverse backgrounds to interior design as a career path and educational experience.
Design Camp has inspired hundreds of students under her leadership. IIDA New York SUP continues this mission by connecting students with industry mentors, ensuring the future of design is inclusive and innovative.
MENTORSHIP AND RECOGNITION AT SUP
This year’s event featured networking sessions and a Matching Ceremony where students met their sponsors and mentors. Industry leaders from firms like Ted Moudis Associates and Perkins & Will participated in this special moment.
The event also celebrated the winners of the Catalyst Laptop Grant. Haruku Utsuki and Alyssa Degenhardt from the New York School of Interior Design received the grant, providing essential tools for their education.
Special thanks go to Jennifer Graham and Sherri Simko, co-chairs of the Catalyst Committee. Their dedication helped bring the program to life and reinforce its mission of mentorship and professional growth.
